Haley Weger: Myth-Folklore

 The Caterpillar was smoking hookah, and was very chill. Alice sat at the table, looking at the blank stare of the Caterpillar. Finally, after a few minutes of silence, the Caterpillar asked Alice, "Who are YOU?" in a very demanding tone. Alice was taken aback by the question, and she realized she didn't quite know how to answer the question. She said she hardly knew who she was, and she had gone through so many things that day. She said "I knew who I was this morning, but I have changed so many times today, I don't even who I am now." The Caterpillar didn't like her answer at all. He asked the question again, but she still didn't know the answer.  The two went back and forth, with the Caterpillar demanding she explain who she was, followed by Alice trying to explain. She tried many different ways, but the Caterpillar did not like any of her answers. Alice was polite and timid, and the Caterpillar was rude and angry. Finally, Alice had an idea that s...

 March Hare, the Hatter, and a Dormouse were having tea at a table outside. When Alice approached, they told her there was no room at the table, even though Alice argued there was PLENTY of room. She ignored them, and sat down at the end of the table. The March Hare offered her wine, but all Alice saw was tea. He was just messing with her, which made her angry. She said that was rude, and he said it was rude to sit down uninvited.  Finally, the Hatter chimed in saying, "Your hair wants cutting." Alice said it was rude to say something like that. The Hatter opened his eyes very wide on hearing this, but all he SAID was, 'Why is a raven like a writing-desk?' Alice was excited, and wanted to answer the riddle.  The Hare and Alice went back and forth, arguing about if she could solve it or not. The Hare was trying to prove Alice was wrong, by arguing about her phrasing, and how different phrasing changes the meaning of the sentence. Finally, the Hatter stepped in and sai...

 The Caterpillar and Alice were sitting alone in silence for some time before the Caterpillar sleepily asked "Who are YOU?", to Alice. Alice was very shy, and was taken back by this question. She was still confused by what had happened to her that day, so she answered with, 'I — I hardly know, sir, just at present — at least I know who I WAS when I got up this morning, but I think I must have been changed several times since then.' Obviously, the Caterpillar was very confused by her statement, and demanded she explain herself immediately. Alice, still confused and timid, told the creature she couldn't explain herself because she didn't even understand what was going on. There was SO MUCH confusion between the two of them.  They went back and forth trying to figure out the situation, with Alice explaining she didn't know the answer, and the Caterpillar demanding she somehow explain herself and her motives.  There once was a farmer, who lived on a big farm. He had hundreds of different animals on his farm, from cows to chickens, and goats to horses. One of his horses was very obedient, and had done great work for the farmer since he was just a colt. But the horse had grown old, and couldn't work as well as he could when he was younger. Since the farmer couldn't get much use out of the horse, he kicked the horse off his farm. The farmer told the horse that he would have to fend for himself, and could only return to the farm if he became stronger than a lion. The farmer never expected to see the old horse again, since this was almost an impossible task. The horse sulked through the forest, all alone, with nowhere to go. All of the sudden, a sly fox saw the horses despair, and asked what was wrong. The horse explained everything he had been through, and the fox took pity on the horse. But the sly fox had a plan to save the horse, and help him get back to the farm. He told the horse t...

 A farmer had an old horse, that used to be a wonderful servant. Since the horse was so old, the farmer wouldn't feed him because he wanted him to die and didn't want to waste his food on the useless animal. He let him go and said, "I shall not take you back again until you are stronger than a lion." The sad horse wandered around on it's own, lonely and cold. He met a fox in the woods while he was seeking shelter. The fox asked why the horse was down. The horse explained that he was old, and couldn't work, so his owner sent him off and wouldn't take him back until he was stronger than a lion. He told the fox he didn't think there was any chance he would do that. But the fox offered to help. The fox told the horse to lay down and play dead. The fox went to the lion nearby and told him about the dead horse, and how it would make a great meal. The lion followed the fox to the "dead" horse. The fox told the lion he would tie him to the horses tai...

 A very poor old woman lived in a village, and she had very few things to eat and cook with. She gathered a pot of beans and cooked them over a fire, igniting the fire with some straw. When she was cooking them, one dropped and she didn't notice. Soon after, a burning coal leapt off the fire onto the straw and bean below. Then the straw began and said: 'Dear friends, from whence do you come here?' Each the coal and the bean explained how they had ended up all together below the fire. All three of the items "escaped death" in their own way, and now ended up on the ground below.  They decided since they all escaped death together that they would stay together as friends. They all set out to a foreign country. Soon, they came to a brook with no bridge and no way to cross. They came up with a plan. The straw would lay across and act as a bridge, and the coal went across the straw bridge first. The coal got scared of the brook below in the middle of the journey across,...

  The Evil Fish. Once upon a time, 12 little fish lived in a big giant pond. These fish were very very small, smaller than most perch or bait fish. The fish were all very timid, and scared of the big pond. The big pond was also a family member of theirs: their grandmother. But, the grandmother pond was not only inhabited by the 12 little fish. She also was the home to six big huge, evil garfish. These fish were mean, and they always tried to eat the little fish. They would chase the little fish and scare them. They would back them into corners of the pond, and separate them from the group of 12.  The small fish had finally had enough. They begged their grandmother river to help them. She knew this would not be an easy task, as the garfish were surprisingly clever. But, she loved her grand-fish, and would do anything to help them. She racked her brain for an idea to outsmart the garfish, and save her baby fish, and finally came up with one. She called upon the clouds above her,...

  Pond with small and big fish. A group of small fish were in danger of being eaten by a long, skinny gar fish. They were in danger because the garfish could easily catch the small baby fish. The small fish tried to swim to safety, but the big garfish would catch them with it's long snout and eat them. The big gar fish were always on the hunt, searching day and night for little baby fish to feast on.  The small fish cried out to their grandmother, the river, to save them. The grandmother decided to play a trick on the big scary fish to save the little fish. She called upon the clouds to rain onto the river and scare the big fish.  The rain poured down, and the Grandmother river continued to grow. The garfish swam into the bushes that had overflown, looking for more food. It was time for the trick! She dried up the banks, so the garfish were stuck in their own pools. They were so angry and leap in the air trying to escape. But, she did not let them go because she had saved...
