Time Strategies

https://booklaunch.com/the-myth-of-too-busy/  The Myth of Too Busy. This article immediately drew me in. I take on a lot between school, pom practice, work and a sorority, and often find myself stressing over being "too busy". This article does a great job outlining the difference between being "too busy", and learning good time management. College has forced me to rework my past time management skills. For me, I have learned a big part of my time management leads back to organization. I have a very detailed planner of everything that happens in my life, from appointments to football games to assignments and tests. The visual I have in my planner makes it easy for me to manage my weeks and alleviates a ton of stress. I also agree with the end of this assignment post, that working ahead is key! I am trying to take this time before my other classes become crazy to get ahead on this course while I can. My biggest challenges this year will be continuing to work ahead

Technology

I am really excited about the use of technology in this course. I have taken a few online classes prior to this, and consider myself fairly tech savvy, so I am familiar with these tools. But, I am excited to use them more during this course. The use of this technology is similar to my other courses, especially since more courses have had to transfer online due to COVID. As far as this semester goes, I would love the chance to further my skills in these technology platforms and tools. I think it's really important to understand this technology when I graduate and go into the working world. If I can even learn some new technology tools that will help me in the future, I will take that as a big win! Technology meme.  By GoComics.

Assignments

I am most excited and intrigued by the storytelling assignments. As a journalism major, I love writing and storytelling so I am really looking forward to these assignments. I am also looking forward to continuing to write blogs, and read other students blogs. I think it is exciting that this class is interactive and we will have the chance to comment on each other's blog posts, as well as create our own. This is very different than any other classes I've taken, in a good way! Most of the online classes I've taken in the past have been more about readings, and assignments. This is more interactive, and makes it feel like it is almost an in-person class. As far as extra credit goes, I will absolutely be using the extra commenting option. I am very outgoing, and love to give compliments. I think this option is right up my alley, and I am excited to take advantage of it!  Storytelling quote.  By Ali Edwards.

Growth Mindset

This assignment is my first time hearing about Carol Dweck, and the growth mindset. I think it's a very interesting idea, and I can see where Carol is coming from. While I do believe her methods may be slightly tough, or even drastic, I do agree with her to a certain degree. I do think that many young children are coddled, and are given participation trophies (verbally or physically) for small actions. I do agree with her that it is our job to push children while their brains are forming and changing, and that is what will help them grow. I think the important part here, is knowing how hard to push, and knowing when they have reached a limit. I think that all people learn in different ways and at different speeds, and this methodology may not be ideal for everybody. I think it would be safe to say I am pushed fairly hard in my studies, as well as my personal life. As an athlete, I am pushed mentally and physically harder than most, but that is something I have been accustomed to si

Introduction- Haley Weger

Hi! I'm Haley Weger and I am a senior this year, graduating in May. I'm from a suburb of Houston, called Friendswood. My parents just bought a house on a small island near Galveston, so the next time I go home I will be living there. I am a Journalism major, on the broadcast track, with a minor in Human Relations. The best part about my major is that I am involved in our student-run newsroom through Gaylord, so I get real-life practice being on camera. I have the chance to learn all of the ropes and exactly how a real newsroom is run before I graduate! Outside of my classes and OU Nightly, I am also involved in greek life and the OU spirit program. I am starting my fourth year on the OU Pom Squad, and am also a member of Tri Delta. I also work at Ada High School on the side, teaching their pom squad. Right now my favorite TV shows I'm watching are Yellowstone and Ozark, but my all time favorites are New Girl and Friends. In the future, I would like to become a news or sport

Storybook Favorites

Norman Mythology : The first story that I read was a modern tale of the Trojan War. The beautiful OU cheerleader: Harlee, represented Zeus' daughter Helen, who started the Trojan War because of love. In the story, the all mighty Lincoln Riley represents Zeus, because of the power that they both hold. The other characters in the story represent Greek gods and goddesses. The title was captivating and intriguing, as well as did a great job of giving a hint of what the story was about. The intro was a great peek into the rest of the storybook, introducing main characters, and pulling in anybody who enjoys OU football. The layout was very clean, and the author did a great job choosing pictures of the OU football players, as well as Greek gods and goddesses to pull the entire story together.  Jovi: The Dog of All Dogs : This story is on the sweeter side, about a cheerful pup named after John Bon Jovi. The introduction does a great job telling of Jovi's personality, introducing him an

Favorite Place- Disney World

Not only is Disney World the happiest place on earth, but it has become even more special to me since I began college. Disney World was always one of my favorite places to visit as a kid, and now I get the chance to go every year in college. As a member of the OU Pom Squad, I travel with the team to Florida every January to compete at nationals. Not only is it a great bonding experience with the team, as well as  a competition among other college teams, but it's also at the happiest place on earth; Disney World.
