Once upon a time, a mother dog had three little puppies. Those puppies names were Princess, Spot, and Fluffy. Princess and Spot had all of the toys they could possibly think of, as well as every treat on the planet to enjoy. They were cute puppies, but they were quite greedy. Fluffy on the other hand, was perfectly content playing with a stick, sock, or leftover water bottle. One day, the mother dog headed to Petsmart to pick up some things for the dogs' upcoming week. She asked each one of her puppies if they needed anything from the store. Princess and Fluffy named all kinds of new toys, treats, and top shelf dog food they wanted their mother to buy. They listed different Petsmart items for hours, while Fluffy sat playing with her stick. She was unbothered by her brother and sister's greediness. After the mother dog had enough of hearing Princess an Spot's demands, she turned to Fluffy. All Fluffy asked for was three new sticks, of course if it wasn't a burden on her mother.
Away went the mother dog to Petsmart to get her puppies all that they had requested. After bringing away all she could carry, and coming home, she realized she had not picked up the three sticks for her beloved Fluffy. She thought, "I will just grab some from this beautiful tree. Surely nobody will miss these sticks." As she was grabbing them, an evil cat came out of the tree and hissed at her. These were the cat's sticks, and he would have to punish the mother dog for taking them. The only punishment the cat would take was bringing Fluffy back to his castle in the tree, where she would stay forever. If she did not comply, the cat threatened to claw her eyes out.
The mother dog returned home and told Fluffy the bad news, but Fluffy was not bothered. She went willingly to live with the cat. The cat made Fluffy do all kinds of things for him, and one day, the cat requested Fluffy throw him out of the tree. Even though Fluffy was not comfortable with this deed, she had to do what the cat said, or he would claw her eyes out.
Fluffy threw the cat out of the tree, and was surprised at what came next. The cat did not die, but instead turned into a human. This human loved Fluffy, and would take her home and love her and care for her, and give her all of the sticks she could ever dream of. Fluffy and her human lived happily ever after!
Hey Haley! This is such a cute and clever retelling of this story! I thought your attention to detail was excellent, and I really enjoyed reading this. The dogs' names are perfect, and fit their character personalities so well. Putting animals in the place of humans definitely makes the story seem a little lighter, and I am impressed by your creativity!
ReplyDeleteHi Megan!
ReplyDeleteThis was so creative! I really loved the angle you took by making it a family of pups! I love that it had a nice uplifting feel to it, not as dark as the original! I like that it ended up being an owner and their dog situation, a different sort of bond rather than the traditional love story! You made it fun and quirky and all you own! super great job!
Hi Haley,
ReplyDeleteI am so obsessed with your recreation of Beauty and the Basilisk! I also wrote a story based off of this story, but mine was no where near as cute or creative. Well done!
My favorite part about your story was that the "beast" was a cat. That's hilarious! The cat, a dog's worst enemy, turned into a human, a dog's best friend. It's a different kind of true love, but it is still just as powerful!

Hello!
ReplyDeleteI wanted to let you know I enjoyed your retelling of the myth.I did the same story as well. Your story is super cute! I would like to make a suggestion. Your work would be improved by adding a little description. Your story was easy to keep up with, but it helps the reader picture what you created. Also, it adds for word count! I hope this helps.
