Famous Last Words- Halfway Done!

Me trying not to get stressed the rest of the semester.

This week, we didn’t have readings, so I will base this off of last week. I think my reading went very well. I told myself I was going to work ahead so I wouldn’t be stressed this weekend, giving myself time to really pick my readings with a purpose, and take good notes. I did get a chance to read both sections, so I had more to write my own story off of.

As a journalism major, I feel like all I do is write! A lot of it jumbles in my head, but this week I know I wrote a story about a gorilla with powers, and I was also working on my capstone project outside of this class. I read two stories on the gorilla, and his adventures. I based my story mostly off of the second one, where God wanted to punish him because of his behavior, but God ended up realizing he really needed him there after all. My capstone project is on gender bias in the media. Obviously journalism and the media is something that I will end up in after school, so this was something that really sparked my interest and has been interesting to research and write about.

This semester has absolutely been my most busy semester yet. Although I am only in 12 hours of class, I am also doing about 12 hours of OU nightly, working in Ada one day, doing 9 hours of pom practice a week, and then games on top of that, and I also do private dance lessons. I have been trying to work ahead, and stay organized, but sometimes it has been piling up more than I am used to this semester. My classes are going really well, and I am enjoying them, I am just trying not to get too stressed about them!

Next week, I really hope to continue to stay on top of things. I have a busy week with classes and projects, but I am hoping I can work ahead in this class so I am not stressed.

Introduction- Haley Weger

Hi! I'm Haley Weger and I am a senior this year, graduating in May. I'm from a suburb of Houston, called Friendswood. My parents just bought a house on a small island near Galveston, so the next time I go home I will be living there. I am a Journalism major, on the broadcast track, with a minor in Human Relations. The best part about my major is that I am involved in our student-run newsroom through Gaylord, so I get real-life practice being on camera. I have the chance to learn all of the ropes and exactly how a real newsroom is run before I graduate! Outside of my classes and OU Nightly, I am also involved in greek life and the OU spirit program. I am starting my fourth year on the OU Pom Squad, and am also a member of Tri Delta. I also work at Ada High School on the side, teaching their pom squad. Right now my favorite TV shows I'm watching are Yellowstone and Ozark, but my all time favorites are New Girl and Friends. In the future, I would like to become a news or sport...

Week 15 Story: The King and His Queen/ Daughter

Once upon a time, a King lived with his beautiful queen. Not only was she the most beautiful woman in all of the land, but she had the prettiest long, golden hair. Sadly, the queen was ill and was about to die. Before she died she begged her husband, "if you marry again, don't marry anybody as beautiful as me, and nobody with beautiful golden hair like mine." The King promised her this, right before she died. The King was devastated by the loss of the queen, and could not even think about remarrying. But, his councillors told him he would have to marry again so they could have a queen. They told him that he would have to start looking, because it wasn't right without a queen on the throne. He sent his servants all over the world to try to find a woman that was even half as beautiful as his late wife. But sadly, nobody could find a woman like her. Even the prettiest ones they could find did not have the long, golden hair like the queen. All of the servants came home o...

Week 8 Comments and Feedback

I think the comments in feedback in this class are really helpful. It is great for me to get the comments that I can think about for my next story, or work on the revisions in those stories. I think the comments that are most helpful are the ones with suggestions to help either that story, or the next story. I have been trying to give constructive criticism, as well as point out the things I really like. This way, it may inspire some revisions, as well as keep the things that work really well, and look really great. It has been really cool to get to know the class in a different way, since we don't meet in person. But, reading everybody's writing and comments are a really cool way to get to know people in a different way.  I think this meme perfectly expresses how I feel in this class. It is easy for me to take criticism, because everybody is so helpful, and you can tell that everybody cares about each other's stories. ( cheezburger )
